(Contined from Part 1)
Frank Bolle covered the story of Isaac and his 2 sons twice-- in 1986, and again in 1996. Because the text was identical in both versions (and much of the art was so similar), I'm going to alternate between versions to make it easier to compare them.

Isaac, Esau and Jacob
(Continued from Abraham)
Although the BOYS' LIFE series STORIES FROM THE BIBLE started in September 1952, it took until September 1957 before it finally covered the story of Isaac and his 2 sons, Esau and Jacob (a full 5 years in). Had Dino DeLaurentis been able to continue his BIBLE film series as he originally intended, this story no doubt would have opened the 2nd film.
I note that it took until the 4th version (in 1976) before they covered the resolution of the story, the reconcilliation of the 2 brothers.

Abraham, Pt. 3
(Continued from Part 2)
10 years after Frank Bolle illustrated the story of "Abraham", he did it AGAIN. In fact, Bolle's entire 2nd HALF of his long run on BIBLE STORIES was spent illustrating the SAME stories a 2nd time (for him). The really strange thing about this was, whoever was in charge of the project made the decision to RE-USE the writing VERBATIM.
I reccomend (for those computer-savvy enough to do this) to open "Abraham, Pt. 2" and "Abraham, Pt. 3" in 2 separate browser windows, you you can bring up the NEARLY-identical episodes and flip between them to easily compare.

Abraham, Pt. 2
(Continued from Part 1)
The 5th time around for the story of "Abraham" (though only the 4th for "Sodom And Gomorrah") proved to be the most detailed version yet. Not only did it contain the journey to Canaan, the birth of Isaac, "Sodom and Gomorrah", and Abraham's faith being test (long one of my LEAST-favorite stories in the entire BIBLE), but for the first time in BOYS' LIFE, it told the story of how Abraham found a wife for Isaac. It then continues straight on into the story of "Isaac, Esau & Jacob", but that will be covered in the NEXT section of this blog.
