Rehoboam and Jeroboam

(Continued from Solomon)

Now we get into some of the more obscure parts of the history of Israel.  Rehoboam was the son of Solomon, while Jeroboam was one of Solomon's advisors.  A rift between the first and the people he ruled caused them to declare the second their new king, with the country split in two!  It was rough sailing after that, especially given that for its entire history, Israel has tended to be surrounded by enemies who want to see them brought down and conquered.  Which is exactly what hapenned-- several times over the centuries.

The story of "Rehoboam and Jeroboam" (alias "The Kingdom Is Divided") was only covered 4 times in the BOYS' LIFE series over the years. What came immediately after, even less!  This is one of the main reasons I'm enjoying putting these together in this organized, chronological fashion.  It should make it easier for any interested readers to follow the history, without all that "jumping around" done when these various stories were actually published in the magazine.

I find it very odd that the first half of this story was SKIPPED in 1992.
There seemed to be a lot of that going on at the time.
